Watching along without an account
You do not need an account to watch an event. Open the link the director gave you, or find the event yourself, and read the live leaderboard.
Quick answer. You do not have to sign up for anything. Open the link the director sent you, or go to Find an event, pick the event and press View Leaderboard. The scores update on their own as the groups put them in.
Who can do this: anyone with a phone or a computer. No account, no app, no payment.
Before you start
If the director sent you a link, use it. It is the surest way in. If not, you need the name of the golf course or the town it is in.
The steps
- Open the link, or find the event. Open the link you were sent. If you have no link, open Find an event and type the course's name or its town in the search box. Find an event to watch goes through the page.
- Open the event. On the event's page you see its date, the course, the format, how many golfers are playing and, once the groups are made, the tee sheet with everyone's group.
- Press View Leaderboard. It is the button beside "Leaderboard is updating in real time" while play is under way.
- Read the leaderboard. First place is at the top. THRU says how many holes each golfer has finished, and F means all of them. Follow along live explains what is on each row.
- Come back whenever you like. On most events the page updates by itself while it is open. If it says "This board doesn't update by itself.", press Show newest scores when you want the latest. When the event is over, the page says Final Results and the order stops changing.
What you should see
During play the event page says "In Progress" at the top, with a Live mark and "Leaderboard is updating in real time". Afterwards it says "Completed", Final Results and "Official results are available".
If it goes wrong
- You cannot find the event. Not every course lists its events on the Find an event page. Ask the director or a golfer in the group for the link to the event.
- There is no View Leaderboard button. The event has not started. Before the day, the event page says "Registration open" or "Upcoming". Come back on the day of the event.
- The leaderboard is all dashes. Play has not started, or no scores are in yet. Come back in a little while.
- A golfer you are following shows a dash. That golfer has no score yet. They may not have teed off, or the group has not entered their holes. Check back after a few holes.
- It says "Awaiting results". The round is over, but the director has not confirmed the results yet. The order can still change.
- Something looks wrong. Tell the director. They are the one who can fix a score.
Director's tip
Send the link before the round, not during it. Put it in the reminder you send the field, with a line for anyone who is coming to watch.
