It says finished but we're still playing
A golfer sees "Awaiting Results" or "Final Results" while the round is still going. Here is what each word really means, and how to reopen an event you closed by mistake or too early.
Quick answer. There are two different words. Awaiting Results means the event's last day has gone and nobody has pressed Close Event. Final Results means someone did press it. If you closed it by mistake, open More and choose Reopen Event. If the dates are wrong, change the dates under Event Details.
Who can do this: an Admin. This was walked as an Admin. We did not walk it as an Organizer.
Web only. This article covers the web pages. We did not check the phone app.
Before you start
Find out which word the golfers are seeing, and where. Open the event's leaderboard the way a golfer would, and read the word near the top.
The steps
- Read the word. Open the event's leaderboard. On our event whose days had gone it said AWAITING RESULTS and "The organizer hasn't confirmed the results yet." After Close Event it says FINAL RESULTS. A round still going on its dates should say LIVE. We did not read the LIVE page again in this walk.
- If it says Awaiting Results, the dates on the event are in the past. The code gives an event one day of grace after its last day before it flips, and we did not time that. Check the dates: on the event page, under Event Details, press Edit, change the first and last day, and press Save Changes. In our walk we moved the dates back into the past and the leaderboard changed to AWAITING RESULTS. We did not move them forward again to watch the word go back.
- If it says Final Results, someone pressed Close Event. Open the event page, press More, and choose Reopen Event. The page asks "Reopen this event? It will return to Active status and scores can be edited again." Press Reopen event. The event returns to Active status.
- Open scoring again. Reopening does not open scoring. The Rounds box says Scoring Closed and "· tap to open". Tap it, or open the scoring page and press Open Scoring Now. Golfers can enter scores again after that.
What you should see
On our event with dates in the past, the dashboard showed the line "Ended — close it" beside the event. The leaderboard showed AWAITING RESULTS twice, with the line "The organizer hasn't confirmed the results yet."
After we reopened a closed event, the Rounds box still said Scoring Closed and "· tap to open" until we opened scoring.
If it goes wrong
- The dashboard says "Ended — close it" and we are not done. The last day on the event has gone. Change the dates, as in step 2, or finish the round and close the event yourself.
- I pressed Reopen Event and golfers still can't score. Open scoring, as in step 4.
- The leaderboard says Final Results and I did not close it. Someone else with Admin access may have. We did not walk how to see who closed an event.
- I changed the dates and the word did not change. Read the dates again on the event page after you save, and check both the first and the last day.
- Golfers got a Results email. The Reopen box says players who already got the results email won't be emailed again when you close it. We did not read the email.
Director's tip
When the day runs long, change the last day before the golfers go out, not after they start asking. Open the leaderboard on your phone once the round has started and read the word near the top.
