Someone is missing from the group
A golfer is in the field but on nobody's card, or shows up late and is in no group at all. Here is where to find them on the Pairings page and how to put them in a group.
Quick answer. Open Pairings on the event page and look at the UNASSIGNED list on the left. A golfer who is in the field but in no group is there. Tap their name, then tap Place here on the group you want. If they are not in that list either, they are not in the field yet, and you add them on the Field page first.
Who can do this: an Admin. This was walked as an Admin. We did not walk it as an Organizer.
Web only. This article covers the web pages. We did not check the phone app.
Before you start
Know the golfer's name, and whether they should be in an existing group or a new one.
The steps
- Open Pairings. On the event page, press Pairings.
- Look at UNASSIGNED. The box on the left counts the golfers in no group and lists them. If your golfer is there, go to step 5.
- If they are not there, add them to the field. Press Field on the event page. Scroll down to the Add from Roster list and press + Add beside their name. The page says "Player added to the field." and the count at the top goes up, such as "6 registered".
- Go back to Pairings. The golfer is now in the UNASSIGNED list. In both our walks the other golfers stayed in the groups they were in, and only the new golfer was unassigned. The second walk was on a live event with scores already posted.
- Place them. Tap the golfer's name in UNASSIGNED. Each group shows a Place here button. Tap the group you want.
- Check the count. The page says "All players assigned" when nobody is left over.
What you should see
The golfer we added late showed in UNASSIGNED by name. Because we had added them from the roster with no handicap on file, no handicap number showed beside the name. After we placed them in a group the list said "All players assigned".
We did not open that golfer's own scorecard while they were in no group, so we can't say what they see.
If it goes wrong
- They are not in UNASSIGNED and not in a group. They are not in the field. Add them on the Field page, as in step 3.
- I added them and I'm afraid of undoing my groups. Adding a golfer left our other groups alone. Pressing Generate Groups is what replaces them. It replaces every group, and the page warns you first. See Fix the groups on game day morning.
- The field is full and I can't add them. We added a golfer from the roster to an event that had room. We did not walk a full event from the Field page. If the event is full, see When the event is full: the waitlist.
- There is no handicap beside their name. The roster had none for them. We did not walk setting one.
- Every group already has four. Place here still works. We put a fifth golfer into a group of four on a live event and the page took it.
- The scorecards are already printed. On Field Packets, use Reprint one group for the group you changed. Do not press Regenerate packet on game day: it replaces every QR code already printed, so the cards in the other carts stop working. See Print scorecards and field packets.
- The page asks whether to email them. After adding a golfer the page offers "Email them that they're registered". We did not press it.
Director's tip
When a golfer walks up late, add them to the field first, then place them in the group that has room before you hand out the cards. A name on your paper list is not a name in the field.
