Put standings on the TV

Show the league's standings on a screen in the clubhouse. Open one address in a browser and it turns the pages by itself. No sign-in is needed.

Quick answer. On the Manage Week page, press TV View. It opens a page with your league's standings, big and plain, that turns to the next set of golfers by itself. The page needs no sign-in, so you can open the same address in the browser of whatever is plugged into the TV. We opened it in a computer's browser. We did not walk a real TV.

Who can do this: an Admin. This was walked as an Admin. We did not walk it as an Organizer. Who can do what in your club has the full list.

Before you start

The league needs golfers and at least one finalized week to have anything worth showing. A league week, start to finish shows how to finalize a week.

The steps

  1. Open the league and press Manage This Week. At the bottom of the Manage Week page there is a row of links: League Home, Advanced Setup, Print Scorecards, Standings and TV View. Press TV View.
  2. The page shows your league's name, the word STANDINGS and a count such as "1–12 OF 16". Beside it a small mark says LIVE. The columns are #, PLAYER, RDS (rounds played) and STROKES. Your club's name is on the page.
  3. Wait. The page changes by itself to the next golfers, such as "13–16 OF 16", and then back to "1–12 OF 16". You do not press anything.
  4. To show it on a screen, open the page's address in the browser of the computer or box that drives the TV. The address ends in /leagues/ followed by your league's number and /leaderboard/tv. It needs no sign-in, so the TV does not need your login.
  5. When you archive the league, the mark that said LIVE says FINAL. Playoffs and closing the season shows how to archive.

What you should see

Your league's name, STANDINGS, the golfers in order with their rounds and strokes, a LIVE mark, and your club's name.

If it goes wrong

  • A golfer sits below others who have more strokes. The list puts golfers who have played fewer rounds below those who have played them all, even when their total is lower. On our league, three golfers with four rounds and lower totals sat under thirteen golfers with five. Standings, points and ties explains it.
  • A golfer who has not played shows a dash. A golfer with no rounds shows "–" where the rounds and strokes would be.
  • You want a page golfers can open on their own. The league's public page, with the address ending /public, lists the same golfers in the same order, with a few more columns. It has a Share button under SHARE THIS LEAGUE. We did not press it.
  • The page still says LIVE after the season is over. It says FINAL once the league is archived. On an active league we saw LIVE.
  • You want it full screen, or want to know how long each page stays up. We did not walk a real TV, full-screen mode or the timing of the turn. We also did not look for a club logo on the page.
  • You are an Organizer. We did not walk it. The TV View link we pressed is on the Admin's Manage Week page.

Director's tip

Set the TV up once, before the first night of the season, and keep the address written down. We did not leave the page up for hours to see how it keeps up with new results, so look at it once after you finalize a week.

Still stuck?
