Run a league
The weekly routine first, then the season around it.
For league commissioners
- Start your league Make the league, put your golfers on its roster and start it. Starting the league lets golfers sign up. It does not email anyone.
- Add your members Put golfers on the league's roster one at a time or several at once, and take one off and put them back. Use it when a new member joins or someone drops out.
- Your season schedule is made for you In a team league where two-golfer teams play head to head, Back9Ops makes the whole season's matchups for you. It is a league round robin with byes shared out evenly, and a big league can play in two pools. This article also covers what happens when a team joins mid-season or you turn pools on late.
- A league week, start to finish One league night from the Manage Week page. Build the groups, prepare the scorecards, open scoring, close it and finalize the week. It says which buttons email your golfers and which do not.
- Print the league flyer One sheet for the pro shop window and the bulletin board, with a code golfers scan to enroll. Here is how to open it, what is on it, and what a golfer sees after scanning, including when registration is closed.
- Set up the week, groups and tee times Decide how one league night starts, tee times or a shotgun, how many golfers go in a group and what time, then save it. Use it when the defaults from the league do not fit this week.
- Print the week's scorecards Get the week's field packet, one scorecard per group, and the cart signs. Download it, print it, or email it to your golfers. Use it once the groups are built.
- A sub is playing this week Record that a member is out this week and who is playing in their place, a friend or another member on your roster. It also says what the groups and the printed cards did when we tried it.
- It rained out Cancel a league week that rained out, add a makeup night if you want one, and bring the week back if you cancelled it by mistake. Cancelling sends nothing to your golfers, so it says how to tell them.
- Tell your league: reminders and rain notices Send one email to everyone in your league, a reminder before league night or a notice that it is rained out. It shows how to pick the league, read the preview and send.
- Standings, points and ties How your league's standings are put in order, how to award points for each finishing place, and the three ways to handle a tie. Use it when a golfer asks why they are where they are.
- Playoffs and closing the season Record who won a playoff between golfers who finished level, then archive the league when the season is over, and bring it back if you did it too soon.
- Put standings on the TV Show the league's standings on a screen in the clubhouse. Open one address in a browser and it turns the pages by itself. No sign-in is needed.
