Why can't I see a menu or button?

A menu item or a button is missing, or a page says you cannot open it. How to tell whether it is your role or your club's plan, and who can fix it.

Quick answer. Two things hide things from you: your role and your club's plan. They look different. A missing menu item or button is almost always your role. A page that opens and then tells you it belongs to a bigger plan is the plan. Who can do what in your club has the full list for each role; this page helps you work out which one you are hitting.

Who can do this: anyone who works in a club's Back9Ops. Only an Admin can change a person's role.

Before you start

Find your own role. Press Settings in the left-hand menu. Under your club's name, one line says "You're an admin here" (Admin) or "You run events and leagues here" (Organizer).

The steps

  1. Is the item missing from the left-hand menu? On the Admin login we walked, the menu listed Dashboard, Leagues, Events, Players, Field Packets, Communications, Courses, Tee Sheet, Club Page, Settings and Billing. The Organizer login had the same list without Billing. So a missing Billing means you are an Organizer. If you type the Billing address anyway, an Organizer sees "Billing is handled by your club admin." and a Back to Dashboard button.
  2. Is a button missing inside a page? Open the page and read the top. On the Payments page, an Organizer sees "Only an organization admin can manage payments." and no buttons. On the club's Settings page, an Organizer has no Your data box, so no Download everything button either. Download all your club's data is for an Admin.
  3. Does the page say you do not have access? The audit log page for an Organizer says only "You don't have access to this page." We also saw no History button for an Organizer on the Tee Sheet. See who changed what is an Admin page.
  4. Does the menu item open, but the page says it is part of a plan? The menu does not hide items because of the plan. On a club set to the League plan, the menu still listed Tee Sheet. Opening it showed "The tee sheet is part of the Club plan" and a See the Club plan button. On a club set to the Club plan, the same menu item opened the tee sheet. We walked those two plans only.
  5. Not sure which plan your club is on? An Admin can open Billing. The first box is CURRENT PLAN, and it names the plan. An Organizer has no Billing item.

What you should see

Your role decides what is in the menu and on the buttons. Your plan decides whether a page opens fully. If one page is both, the page tells you which: it names the plan.

If it goes wrong

  • You are an Organizer and need something an Admin does. Ask an Admin to do it, or to change your role. There is no "change role" button. Who can do what in your club has the steps.
  • The page names a plan your club is not on. An Admin can open Billing. Next to Set up by it says "Back9Ops — email us to change it" and gives sales@back9ops.com for billing questions.
  • Nothing here fits. Email support@back9ops.com with the name of the menu item or button, your role and what the page says.

Director's tip

This one is our advice, not a rule of the app. Before you tell a volunteer "the button is broken", check their role. It is almost always the role, and an Admin can change it.

Still stuck?

Email support@back9ops.com and tell us your club's name, your role, and the exact words on the screen.

Still stuck?

Email support@back9ops.com and tell us what you were trying to do. It helps to include the event or league name and what kind of phone or computer you are on.
