You closed the page: get back to your round

You scored with the QR code on your card and closed the page, or your phone shut it. Scan the same code again and carry on where you stopped.

Quick answer. Scan the QR code on your card again. The page opens on "You're scoring as:" and your name. Press Start Scoring. It opens on the first hole you have not scored. View full card shows the scores you already put in. You do not start over.

Who can do this: a golfer who scores with the QR code on their card, with no account. Scoring without an account: the QR code on your card is the whole walk-through.

Before you start

Your card has to still be the card the director gave you. A code that has been withdrawn or has expired will not open. The section "If it goes wrong" below says what you will see.

The steps

  1. Scan the code again. Point your phone's camera at the QR code on your card, as you did the first time. Press the link that appears. It does not matter that you closed the page. We also opened the same code in a brand-new browser, with nothing saved in it, and it came up the same way.
  2. Check your name. The page says "You're scoring as:" and your name. If it is not your name, the page says "Not you? Ask the organizer for your scorecard QR code." Ask the director for your own card.
  3. Press Start Scoring. The page opens on the first hole where you have no score. In our walk it opened on hole 2 after we had scored hole 1. Another time we had scored holes 1, 2 and 3, closed the page, scanned again and pressed Start Scoring, and it opened on hole 4 with "3 / 9 holes" at the bottom.
  4. Look at what is saved. Press View full card. The page says "Review your card — tap a hole to fix it". It lists each hole with the score you put in, and a dash where you have none. At the bottom it shows the count and your total, such as "3 / 9 holes · Total 12". We saw holes 1, 2 and 3 with their scores, and holes 4 to 9 with a dash.
  5. Carry on. Press ← Back to scoring and tap the score for the hole you are on. If a hole has the wrong score, tap that hole on the card and put in the right one.

What you should see

The same card you left, with the scores you had put in and the next hole ready. Each score is saved the moment you tap it. We tapped one, then looked at the club's own records, and it was already there. That is why closing the page does not lose it.

If it goes wrong

  • The page says "Unable to open scorecard". We did not walk this one. We read it from the page's code. Underneath it the page gives a reason. Scoring without an account: the QR code on your card lists the reasons and what to do about each. If the code has been withdrawn or has expired, the director has to give you a new card.
  • It opens on the wrong hole. Press View full card and tap the hole you want. A dash means there is no score.
  • A score you put in is not on the card. The most likely reason is that it was still waiting to send when the page closed. We did not walk closing the page while a score was waiting, so we cannot say what you will find. Put the score in again, then check it on View full card. I lost signal on the back nine is the page for a dead spot, and it says to keep the page open until it says "Everything is saved."
  • The page says "This scorecard is final — scores are locked". The round has been finalized. Ask the director if something needs to change.
  • The page says "This event is closed, so scoring is closed". The director has closed the event. Show the page to the director.
  • Your card is one code for the whole cart. Some events use one code on the cart sign for the group. We did not walk a cart-sign code in this check, so we cannot say how a second scan looks there.

Director's tip

This one is our advice, not a rule of the app. Tell the golfers at the first tee that they can scan the code again if the page closes, and that nothing is lost. How scoring works on game day is what to do on your side.

Still stuck?

Email support@back9ops.com and tell us the event's name, what the page said, and the time you scanned the code.
